DIG IT PROJECT
Dig_IT – A human-centred Internet of Things platform for the sustainable digital mine of the future
DIG_IT is an EU-funded Horizon 2020 research and innovation project focused on developing a human-centred Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform designed to make mining operations safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. The project aims to protect workers and the environment while enabling the industry to move toward responsible resource use.
The Brief
Our team was commissioned to design and produce all audiovisual materials for the project — including a 30-minute documentary film, five thematic mini-videos, and a library of interviews. Our task was to visually communicate a highly technical research project in a way that felt accessible, human, and aligned with the EU’s emphasis on safety, innovation, and sustainability.
Our Approach
We developed the full narrative concept and video structure in collaboration with the DIG_IT research partners. Over the course of a year, we travelled to multiple pilot sites across Europe — including Norway, Finland, Italy, and Greece — to film real-world use cases, capture interviews with researchers and industry experts, and document the human, environmental, and technological dimensions of the project.
Our visual approach blended documentary filmmaking, field reportage, and clear communication design, ensuring that each video could speak to both scientific audiences and the general public.
Result
The final delivery included:
– A 30-minute documentary film
– Five short thematic videos
– 10 Interview videos and communication assets for EU outreach
– Visual materials for events, conferences and online dissemination
The videos have been used across the DIG_IT platform, on the project’s official channels, and at international conferences and research events — contributing to public engagement, EU reporting, and dissemination activities.
