A Creative Christmas TV series for NRK
Øisteins Christmas Calendar, is a beloved TV format created by Earth Tree Media and broadcast on NRK, Norway’s national television channel. The series combines creativity, crafting and storytelling, inviting children into Øistein’s colorful universe throughout the holiday season.
The 24-episode show was designed as a fun, imaginative, and educational Christmas calendar, encouraging young audiences to explore art and creation through simple, engaging activities.
The Brief
We were brought on by Earth Tree Media as co-producers to help realise the production of scenes to the Christmas calendar series. The scope included planning, logistics, filming, casting and still photography, supporting Earth Tree Media’s vision for a playful, vibrant, and accessible children’s universe.
Our responsibility was to ensure the production ran smoothly, delivering high-quality visual material that matched the established Øistein brand and its creative tone.
Our Approach
Working over an extended production period, we collaborated closely with Earth Tree Media on all practical and creative aspects of the series.
This included:
Pre-production planning and organisation
On-set production and direction
Filming exclusive scenes for the 24-episode calendar
Photography for promotional and additional content
In addition to the main series, the material later expanded into a collection of short “Christmas Workshop” videos, further extending the life and value of the production.
Result
The collaboration resulted in a successful 24-episode Christmas calendar broadcast on NRK, reaching a wide national audience. The series strengthened Øistein’s position as a key figure in children’s creative content and the resulting workshop videos continue to be used across digital platforms, adding longevity to the project.
